Reaction Time Test

Playing the test

• Click Start Test (or press Space) to begin.
• The screen turns red and shows "Wait for green...". Do not click yet.
• After a random delay (1–4 seconds) the screen turns green. Click as fast as you can.
• Your reaction time in milliseconds is recorded. Repeat for 5 rounds.
• Click too early and the round restarts — no cheating by anticipating!

What the numbers mean

• Reaction time is the gap between the screen turning green and your click, measured in milliseconds (ms).
• Average is the mean of your 5 rounds — the fairest single measure of your reflexes.
• Best and worst show your fastest and slowest rounds.
• Percentile estimates where your average ranks among people. A higher percentile means you are faster than a larger share of the population.

Typical reaction times

• Around 200–250 ms is average for a simple visual reaction.
• Under 200 ms is fast; competitive gamers often land here.
• Under 150 ms is exceptional.
• The percentile comparison uses an approximate model of human reaction times and is for fun, not a clinical measurement.

Tips for a better score

• Use a mouse or trackpad with low latency, and a screen without heavy display lag.
• Rest your finger lightly ready to click, but focus on the color, not the anticipated timing.
• Do a few practice runs — reaction time improves as you warm up.
